The original bowling shirt became a kind of status symbol too.  It told the world that you were part of a team, you were sporty enough, you were social and that you might be good fun to hang out with. That's a whole lot of back-story from a shirt. Charlie Sheen played a very cool character in Two And A Half Men and wore a bowling shirt pretty much the whole time. 

Strike A Pose Or Pose While You Strike

Even if you don't do the classic bowling shirt, you can still put together the kind of looks that Justin Beiber did in his video 'Baby'.  Those guys definitely took their cue from the early days of bowling when you dressed to be part of the group, one of the cool kids. Bowling gave you a place to hang out, be with friends, impress a girl or guy so, you had to look good.

Back in the heyday, girls wore swing skirts and short sleeved knits.  Well, the skirts may not be as full on the swing but it's the same look and the great thing about that is you can wear it if you're six or sixteen (or even thirty-six!!). 

Cool Kids Share An Edge

Cool kids demand comfort and they want their clothes to say something about how they feel and what they're doing. Surfing, skateboarding, bowling share a little edge, a culture. 

Bowling has been a genuine fashion inspiration - look what Adidas did with their fashion spin on bowling shoes - but maybe don't wear these on the lanes!
