Many consider summer the best season of the year, while Saturday is usually the best day of the week. When those two are combined, glorious things can happen.
With school holidays under way and Christmas looming on the horizon, now's the time to start planning your family activities for the festive summer period. You're likely to have the odd lazy Saturday when you have nothing specific planned, however, so here's a quick guide to making the most of your weekend this summer!
No time for early birds
You and your family have spent all year as slaves to the alarm clock, waking up at ungodly hours for school and work.
Summer's a great time to throw all that out the window though, so make sure you all wake up nice and late and filled with energy for the day ahead!
Take a dip in the beach
If you're in Australia in summer, there is literally no valid reason not to go to the beach at some stage.
Get there early to grab a nice shady spot to set up camp, and make sure you don't leave out the classic fish and chips for lunch. Sun safety is also important, of course, so make sure your whole family is coated in plenty of sunscreen - especially if they're going to be in and out of the water.
Check out a market
There are some great weekend markets dotted all around Australia, and with the Christmas season underway many are likely to offer a great range of festive ware.
It's the perfect opportunity to snag some last-minute gifts for your family!
Smash some pins!
After a long day in the sun, what better way to unwind in the evening than to enjoy some light exercise with the family?
Sound familiar? A round of tenpin bowling in an air-conditioned AMF centre is a great way to cap off a perfect Summer Saturday.
